Community Impact
Golf and Beyond

WLWT5 - CINCINNATI —

 

Celebrating the achievement of young people. We introduce you to amazing Cincinnati kids and teens making positive impacts on our community. (ROFK's Owen Shaw is highlighted below.)

ROFK has served more than 2,000 kids since the program began.


-  Served up to 300 students each week during the 8-week summer golf clinics.
-  ROFK helped 185 students obtain college scholarships.

-  ROFK has had 5 participants inducted into the African American Youth Golfers Hall of Fame.
-  Provided school supplies to students at Roll Hill Elementary.
-  Provided food to needy families at Christmas and Thanksgiving.
-  Helped obtain college scholarships for students to attend Grambling State 

      University and Livingstone College.

-  Hosted a College Fair.
-  Paid entrance fees for youth to participate in junior golf tournaments.
-  Provided golf clubs and golf balls to children participating in the summer golf program.
-  Hosted a Just Say No to Drugs Rally.

2013 Duke Energy Children Museum’s Difference Maker Award
2018 African American Golfers Hall of Fame
2018 Cincinnati Courier Second Act Award
2021 Avon Fields Driving Range Building dedicated to Ron Dumas, Founder of Reaching Out for Kids
2022 Cincinnati NAACP President’s Award
2022 City of Cincinnati names September 30, 2022 “Ron Dumas Day"
2023 Rotary Club of Cincinnati Jefferson Award Outstanding Community Service           
2023 Finalist, National Nobel Prize for Public Service (Multiplying Good)
